all about amazon
November 09, 2005
have you noticed the new amazon.com wishlist layout? it's much cleaner and mildly pleasant to look at now.
so, as i was looking for a screenshotting opportunity of a random wishlist (search: john smith) i noticed something a little peculiar about the search results. most of the john smiths had your average joe (or john smith?) type of items: an xbox, a cinderella dvd (wtf.), "mexico's greatest hits" (wtf?), visual basic, comics, and a dvd entitled "stripper u.s.a. championship." i'm sorry, come again?
turns out one of the little johnny smiths is a cheeky little bastard. i almost want to purchase one of the dvds so that he gets a notification of some kind, and then cancel the order before any further processing begins, because i can.
now that i think about it, wishlist surfing feels like it's on par with rummaging through someone's sock drawer or medicine cabinet. it's that naughty tingle that makes everything worthwhile.
